TEACHER AND HELPER DUTIES
Every registered HIGH Day family is required to have at least one parent who remains in the building during the entire HIGH Day morning. (The only exception being days where a parent is absent and sends his/her children with another responsible adult. See the ABSENTEE POLICY for further information.)
Each parent must commit to teaching one class per semester and assisting as helper with another. The following outlines the duties of each position:
TEACHERS:
Create/purchase all curriculum materials for each class, or make other provisions for students. (See the REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST FORM & EXTRA FUNDS REQUEST FORM)
Submit LESSON PLANS and an EMERGENCY SUBSTITUTE PLAN.
Utilize the FORUM BOARD for any announcements needed for your class, such as letting parents know about any special items your students will need to bring to class.
Remain in the classroom with the students until the next period's teacher arrives or walk with the students to the HIGH Day hall at the end of the day.
Find a substitute helper to replace you during any planned absences.
HELPERS:
Maintain discipline in the classroom, including pulling aside any disruptive students for a "time-out" period and reporting any situations to student's parent.
If necessary, walk younger students to the restroom.
Assume teacher duties for any absences of regular teacher.
Find a substitute helper for any planned absences.
Arrive in your classroom on time, relieving any teachers who have waited with the students from a previous class period.
Please make sure you are familiar with all of our HIGH Day policies and feel free to CONTACT US with any questions you may have.
